Microbiome effects on adaptive immunity
There are multiple studies that have described the importance of the microbiome in shaping the immune responses to vaccines and natural infections. We are just beginning to realize the complex interactions between our microbes and our immune system. We are developing novel tools to profile immune responses to bacterias and fungi that are commonly found in healthy humans, and trying to identify their associations with a variety of immune conditions including allergies, autoimmune diseases and non-responsiveness to vaccines.
